Exmouth is the Exe Estuary's main seaside town and is famous for its views over the river mouth and its beautiful sandy beaches. The western side of the town sits along the lip of the estuary and at its southernmost point curves around to the seafront. Travelling east will take you along Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast, famous for its wild beauty, ancient cliffs and the fossilized dinosaurs discovered along its beaches.
Exmouth is a well connected town, with the Avocet train line running up towards Topsham and Exeter and the Exmouth Road (A376) providing easy access to the M5 and Exeter. Woodbury Common is a stone's throw from the northern edge of the town, and driving east will take you towards Budleigh Salterton.
For families looking to move to Exmouth, there are plenty of nearby schools as well as nurseries for pre-school age children. These include Marpool Primary School, The Dolphin School (independent), Bassett's Farm Primary and Pre School, St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Withycombe Raleigh C of E Primary, Exeter Road Community Primary School and Brixington Community Nursery and Primary School. For older children, Exmouth Community College provides secondary and post-16 education.
Devon PCT and the Royal Devon & Exeter NHS Foundation Trust provide services at Exmouth Hospital, which has a minor injury unit on site. Five GP practices run in Exmouth and are open for new patients: Claremont Medical Practice, Exmouth Health Centre, Haldon House Surgery, Imperial Surgery and the Imperial Surgery.
Exmouth offers plenty of options for shopping and dining, including a farmer's market and an award winning indoor market, which comprises over fifty stalls. The Strand area of Exmouth has recently undergone a multi-million pound redevelopment scheme by Devon County Council with the aim of making it the town's focal point.
