Local Area: Woodbury, Woodbury Salterton and Exton
Woodbury village lies east of Exton and the Exmouth Road, with Woodbury Salterton to the north. The three villages form Woodbury Civil Parish. Although within easy commuting distance of Exeter by road and rail (Exton Rail Station is part of the Avocet line) and with good access to the M5, Woodbury sits firmly in a rural location above the Exe estuary, with stunning views over the surrounding countryside.
Woodbury and Woodbury Salterton both have Anglican primary schools, linked with St Swithun's Church and Holy Trinity Church respectively. St Andrew's Church, Exton, is a 'daughter church' to St Swithun's.
Woodbury Common, south and adjacent to the village, is an expanse of common land that extends as far as Exmouth. Dog walkers, hikers and mountain bikers will find great appeal in its beautiful heathland.
Woodbury Castle is the dominant feature of the common. An Iron Age hill fort, it commands views over Woodbury, Woodbury Salterton, across the Exe to the Haldon Hills, and the Otter Valley to the east.
On the north side of the common, Woodbury Park Hotel, Golf and Country Club provides a leisure complex, spa and wedding venue.
